Welcome to Birhane's Restaurant, a family-owned Eritrean restaurant born from a story of resilience, hope, and the universal language of food.
Our journey began far from the rugged shores of Newfoundland and Labrador, in the sun-soaked highlands of Eritrea. When hardship forced our family to leave behind the only home we had ever known, we arrived in Canada as refugees—strangers in a new and unfamiliar world. Yet, what we found here was more than safety. We found kindness, open hearts, and a community that made us feel welcome.

Inspired by that warmth, we wanted to give something back—to share a piece of who we are, our culture, and the comfort of a home-cooked meal. In Eritrea, food is never just food; it is a celebration, a connection, and a way to welcome others as family.
